Palace Hotel
2 New Montgomery Street, San Francisco 94105 US

The first grand hotel in San Francisco, the Palace Hotel today defines a city of historic stature and lively culture, sophisticated and playful all at once. Matching the luxury of a bygone era to the smart rhythm of modern San Francisco, this is a place where you'll feel equally at home in business suit or swim goggles, where even formal dining under sparkling chandeliers can be the perfect occasion to kick up your heels.

In the heart of downtown San Francisco, the Palace recreates the elegance and glamour
of nineteenth-century high society. Vaulted ceilings, ornate gilding, and Austrian leaded crystal chandeliers - almost every architectural detail is true to the original 1875 design. With one dramatic exception. After the Earthquake and fire of 1906, the hotel's two-acre high carriage entrance was transformed into one of the world's most luminous dining rooms, the Garden Court. Here, as throughout the hotel, an elevated sense of being prevails.

Dining at the Palace upholds our long standing tradition of catering to a guest's every need. Beginning with the refinement of the Garden Court, where graceful columns soar above marble floors towards a dome of stained glass, and the menu is as elaborate as the gold leaf sconces and mirrored doors. At Maxfield's, a relaxed club atmosphere sets the scene for acclaimed Californian fare. Next door, the Pied Piper Bar proudly displays the famous Maxfield Parrish mural of the Pied Piper of Hamlin, painted for the hotel's re-opening in 1909. But the most historic items await at Kyo-ya, whose delicate creations come from centuries-old recipes of authentic Japanese cuisine.

Throughout the century, decision-makers have gathered here. For today's business travelers, the Palace affords a rare combination of cutting-edge technology and aesthetic pleasure. With a self-contained Conference Center, offering a full-service Business Center and 19 separate function rooms. Three classic ballrooms - the Grand, the Ralston, and the Gold - that lend drama to any event, with turn-of-the-century flourishes such as a marbled fireplace and gilded orchestra cage. And trained meeting professionals to manage every detail.

Nowhere else do modern comforts merge so seamlessly with the old-world grandeur. Of course, what will make your stay here extraordinary is our scrupulous attention to your every need, even a midnight hankering for hot chocolate. And with twice daily housekeeping and evening turn-down, you're sure to find your room always as perfect as when you first arrived.

Rejuvenation is the mission of our newly created health spa. In our fully-equipped exercise room, you may tailor your workout to your mood, whether it calls for weight training or rigorous cardio sessions. Our sauna enables your body to release impurities, while our whirlpool drums away stress with its gentle rhythm of pulsing water. And the cool sanctuary of our indoor lap pool invites you to shed all cares. If you find yourself breathless during a workout, the likely culprit is the stunning skylight, where sun filters through the latticework of an exalted dome.
